“Pray for our Schools” movement begins this week…

In 2018, there have been at least 54 incidents of gunfire on school grounds. School districts across our nation want to increase security measures by fortifying schools with metal detectors, police officers and teachers with guns. I agree, some action needs to be considered to safeguard our schools, but keep in mind these security measures will only create a dangerous and scary environment for our children. Citizens and legislators are quickly crying out for stricter gun laws, focusing their blame on the NRA and the 2nd Amendment.

Sadly, very few of these school districts (if any) are addressing the war on our schools as a spiritual battle-one that must be fought with prayer. Approximately six-weeks ago the Lord put on my heart to start an organization “Pray For Our Schools.” Since making that announcement I was confronted by Collier County detectives, inquiring about my plans for a “protest that was going to take place in front of the schools.”  I immediately corrected them. I will not be protesting at all, but instead PRAYING for the children and all those involved with the school. I also told them I will be attending the next School Board meeting to inform the school board members of my plans. Instead of attending the board meeting, on August 6, I sent a certified letter to each board member and the Superintendent of Schools explaining my intentions. The “Pray For Our Schools” movement plan of action is to meet every Tuesday and Thursday at a different school location each week. Parents, students, teachers, and the general public will have the opportunity to gather on the public sidewalks in front of our schools at 8:00-8:15am and pray for God’s protection over our students and teachers. Throughout the school year I will announce the school locations via the Facebook page  “Pray for our Schools” or by email subscription a week prior to a prayer gathering.
(Send an email to [email protected] to be included on the email list).

Our first prayer gathering will be Thursday, August 16, at East Naples Middle School, 4100 Estey Ave, Naples, FL 34104. We will meet on the Davis Blvd. side of the school. Also, it is the goal of the “Pray for our Schools” movement to have everyone throughout the United States who believes in the power of prayer to take one minute between 8:00-8:15 (no matter what your time zone is) and pray for God’s protection over our students and teachers. I would also like to encourage others to start a prayer movement in your own school district all across America.
