America will be punished

Recently, I sent a letter (see below) to over 200 county Republican Party officers in Florida posing the question: “Are you holding our representatives accountable for their destructive legislation?”  Let us all heed the warning from our 20th President and Gospel minister James A. Garfield –“If the next centennial does not find us a great nation . . . it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”

“Every citizen of a republic must watch for the state as if its liberties depended upon his vigilance alone.” Founding Father Benjamin Rush

Dear Party Officers –

America’s system of government was founded on religious principles along with limited federal powers. Unfortunately, our society has gradually departed from our Founders’ philosophy, as revealed in our founding documents. Before the Court usurped the States’ power on the subject of religion, public officials were required to make a declaration that [he]…acknowledges the being of God and believes in a future state of rewards and punishments.” (e.g. Constitution of South Carolina) By making this declaration, public officials acknowledge they would be held accountable before God for their political actions. This announcement also helped suppress their temptation for corrupt behavior. Founding Father John Adams was a statesman and he said: “The duration of future punishment terrifies me.”

At a town hall meeting on May 29, I had the opportunity to personally hand Florida Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart a copy of my letter regarding HR5 (“Equality Act”). In the letter I address how he voted in favor of a bill which protects the LBGTQ community from discrimination and criminalizes Christians for their faith, if they don’t comply with this bill. Here is the link to my letter: https://allianceforreligiousfreedom.com/hr5-equality-act-criminalizing-christianity/  Here is an excerpt of his response to me: “I cannot oppose a bill that seeks to prevent discrimination and that is why I voted in favor of H.R. 5. I understand your concerns that this bill would weaken protections for religious institutions, medical professionals, and parents.” Here is the link to my letter with the Congressman’s response: https://allianceforreligiousfreedom.com/my-congressman-mario-diaz-balart-is-not-a-statesman/

In March, Florida Republican Senator Joe Gruters filed a bill (SB 438) legalizing discrimination and persecution of Christians who don’t affirm homosexuality and trans-sexuality in the work place. As a supposed conservative and newly elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, I was shocked at this proposed bill. I shared the information on social media along with a meme, “Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Senator Joe Gruters, filed a bill to legalize persecution against Christians!!!”  The Senator from Florida responded, “My bill says you can’t be fired for being gay. Pretty simple.” His response – or lack thereof – prompted me to write this letter to the Senator: https://allianceforreligiousfreedom.com/fl-sen-joe-gruters-pull-this-immoral-bill-now/

Our Founders understood the principle of future rewards and punishments did not just apply to individuals, but nations. At the Constitutional Convention, Father of the Bill of Rights George Mason reminded delegates: “As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence punishes national sins by national calamities.” Only those we elect into office who “acknowledge the being of God and believes in a future state of rewards and punishments” will be able to provide security for America’s Republic and our citizens.

Congressman Balart and Senator Gruters are only two of many Republicans who are progressing to the left with their unconstitutional and immoral policies. As an officer of the Republican Party in Florida are you holding these representatives accountable for their destructive legislation?
