HR5 Equality Act – Criminalizing Christianity

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart,

Recently, you, along with eight other House Republicans aligned yourselves with Democrats by voting in favor of HR5 (“Equality Act”) which protects the LBGTQ community from discrimination. The “Equality Act” will criminalize Christians for their faith, if they don’t comply with this bill.

Our Founders were clear, the Declaration of Independence was the foundation on which the structure the Constitution was framed. John Quincy Adams had this to say about the two documents: “The Declaration of Independence was the platform on which the Constitution of the United States had been erected.”  From July 4, 1776 to this very day, the Declaration of Independence has been an active force that has never been abandoned. Founding Father Samuel Adams said, “Before the formation of the Constitution the Declaration of Independence was received and ratified by all the States in the Union and has never been disannulled.”  The Declaration of Independence acknowledges God’s moral law in the phrase “the laws of nature and of nature’s God.” In a court case in 1841, Founding Father John Quincy Adams explained, “In the Declaration of Independence the Laws of Nature are announced and appealed to as identical with the laws of nature’s God, and as the foundation of all obligatory human laws.” According to “nature’s God,” homosexuality is not natural.

Furthermore Congressman, the principles of the Declaration have also been actively working in Florida’s constitution since its inception. The Preamble: “We, the people of the State of Florida, being grateful to Almighty God for our constitutional liberty…”  Then Art.1, SEC. 2, “Basic rights.—All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights.” In addition, your oath of office in Art.2, SEC. 5b, is an acknowledgment of God and asking for His aid “So help me God.” Art. II SEC. 4 you acknowledge “In God We Trust”(not man) as Florida’s state motto.

In God’s eyes, homosexuality and trans-genderism is not natural according to the “laws of nature’s God.” In Genesis 5:2 God’s Word says, “He created them male and female.” However, since those who identify as homosexual or transgender are created in God’s image, they do have rights, but not special rights. By legislating perversions of human sexuality, it does not become moral in our nation that is under God.  God will not be mocked.

We must pray and trust in Jesus Christ to produce a new ‘natural’ in the hearts of the LBGTQ community. Hearts are not transformed by legislation of mankind. Not only have you and your colleagues forgotten the “Higher Law” in America, but have now come against God Himself by legislating immorality.

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil” Isaiah 5:20.

In the year of our Lord 2019 –
Sincerely, Tom Hughes
