Dear President Trump,
I applaud you for wanting to “Make America Great Again.” However, America can never be great again until we “Make America Godly Again.” Your Executive Order 13899 on Combating Anti-Semitism will only push America further from God and the Gospel message of hope through Jesus Christ.
The Gospel gives several accounts about how much the Jewish leaders hated Jesus and plotted to kill Him. For instance, Jesus avoided entering Judea “because the Jews sought to kill Him” (John 7:1-2). Another time, the Jewish chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and plotted to take Jesus by trickery and kill Him” (Matthew 26:3-5). Finally, when Jesus was arrested and the Jewish “chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, ‘Crucify Him, crucify Him!’” (John 19:6). In the end, it was the Jews hatred for Jesus that cost Him His life (crucifixion).
Complying with your Executive Order sets Christians up to be guilty of antisemitism just by sharing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, your Executive Order is unconstitutional, it violates the “free exercise of religion” and “freedom of speech” that gives all Christians the freedom (without government interference) to proclaim the Gospel message in a public forum.
Mr. President, the Gospel is the heart and soul of America, and it cannot be suppressed, it’s about God’s love for humanity and His willingness to send His son to die on a cross for our sins, so that we might experience eternal life with Him. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Your Executive Order protects the civil rights of Jewish citizens but intimidates, promotes fear, and possibly criminalizes Christians commissioned by Jesus to spread the truth of the Gospel message.
Mr. President, my concern is, will Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun, the nominee for the United States Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, along with your current administration, receive the Gospel as a message of love and hope – or define it as hate and criminally offensive?
Thank you for your careful consideration of this matter.
In the year of our Lord 2025,
Sincerely, Tom Hughes
