America’s civil laws prohibit murder but those laws can’t prevent the hate that led to the murdering of 31 innocent people a week ago.
Our Founding Fathers believed the Christian religion, unlike our civil laws, could prevent the hate that leads to gun violence. Our founders understood man’s heart was “deceitful above all things and desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9). They knew the only way “We The People” could continue to benefit from self government was to restrain man’s wicked heart through “religion and morality” (our nation’s foundations). Founding Father President John Adams explains: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Samuel Adams agreed: “[N]either the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.”
In 1796, George Washington gave his Farewell Address announcing: “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.” For over 150 years every American citizen understood the Christian religion and God’s moral standards were the foundations of America’s culture and civil government. The First Amendment allowed the pulpits to preach, teachers to teach and people to speak freely on America’s foundations of “religion and morality” without government interference. However, in 1947, secular Courts would begin to undermine our nation’s foundations by redefining the First Amendment’s original meaning of freedom of religion to freedom from religion. I guess the tyrannical Courts never got the memo from Founding Father John Dickinson explaining the “free exercise of religion” is an inalienable right, one “which God gave to you and which no inferior power has a right to take away.” According to our founders, it is the government’s duty to protect our inalienable and God given rights – “every government which has not this in view as its principle object is not a government of the legitimate kind” – James Wilson, original Justice to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Without question, the gun violence we’re experiencing today is the result of an unresolved constitutional crisis. Evidently our representatives in government don’t believe in God. If they did they would be working on restoring our nation’s foundations of “religion and morality.” Instead, our illegitimate government has it’s sights set on attempting to pass laws that will undermine our inalienable and God given Second Amendment rights?! Founding Father and legal scholar St. George Tucker warns America today: “The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever…the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated is on the brink of destruction.”
So, what would happen if we tore the foundation out from under a building? The structure would collapse, right? May God have mercy on us all!
America doesn’t have a gun problem, it has a heart problem. Laws can’t prevent hate, only Jesus can.
In the year of our Lord 2019 –
