Communist “I VOTED” sticker

August 22, 2020

To Jennifer Edwards, Supervisor of Elections-

On August 18, my wife and I voted in the primary election. Upon leaving, we received our “I Voted” sticker. Immediately my wife noticed how unpatriotic and unworthy the sticker was to be worn to proudly state to others, “I Voted,” as is our usual on election days. There were no patriotic themes – no flag or red, white, and blue colors. You can’t even read the “I Voted” unless it is right in front of you.  Also, since when did children start voting?! Most appalling is that the American flag depicted in the background is upside down- this is a sign of distress!

After arriving home, I decided to visit the Supervisor of Elections office and file a formal complaint with you personally, but you were unavailable. I made my complaint to the receptionist and she explained the sticker was picked as the winner of an “Art for Democracy” contest held by the Collier County schools. (Link to press release here:  https://www.colliervotes.com/News-Public-Notices/News-Releases-Public-Notices/ArtMID/26390/ArticleID/2346/NEWS-RELEASE-Elections-Office-Announces-Winners-of-the-Art-for-Democracy-Contest)

I was shocked! I corrected the receptionist regarding the title of the art contest, stating, “but we are a Constitutional Republic – not a democracy.” I then made my complaint to the office manager, Ms. Capizzi. She took my contact information and mentioned that you would get back to me about this serious movement in our country that falsely promotes the USA as a democracy and is now even showing itself in Collier County.

There are several problems with this “democracy movement.” The worst is our children are being taught that America is a democracy, instead of a Constitutional Republic! The sticker is clear evidence that our schools are not teaching patriotic values and love for our country. By approving this artwork from the “Art for Democracy” contest and printing it as the “I Voted” sticker, the Supervisor of Elections office and the Collier County School Board are opposing our Constitutional Republic. America is now bearing the fruit of the movement out there promoting the United States as a “democracy.” Our founders warned us about this. President John Adams explains: “[D]emocracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy; such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man’s life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure.”

America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.” -Joseph Stalin (1878-1953) Dictator & Russian political leader of the USSR. All American citizens need to guard against this communist movement.

With this letter, I am petitioning the Supervisor of Elections office not to distribute these non-patriotic stickers at the general election November 3, or any future elections.

In the year of our Lord 2020 –
A most devout patriot,
Tom Hughes
